Singapore has taken a leadership role in shaping the future of green aviation across Asia-Pacific by launching the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Aviation Centre (APSAC). Established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), APSAC became the world’s first centre dedicated to policy research and capacity development focused on sustainable aviation in the region. The centre was created to support countries in pursuing both economic development and environmental responsibility. As a non-profit entity, APSAC committed to advancing solutions like cleaner aviation fuels, carbon auditing, and carbon market development, while also offering training and technical support for governments and aviation companies. To drive collaboration and innovation, APSAC formalised partnerships with major players in aviation, energy, and green finance. A memorandum of understanding was signed on July 14 with organisations such as Airbus, Boeing, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Neste, IATA, and Singapore-based GenZero. The centre's advisory board will be composed of senior leaders from these global entities. With air travel demand in Asia-Pacific expected to triple in the next 20 years, Singapore reaffirmed its intent to balance growth with sustainability. By investing in research, infrastructure, and regional cooperation, APSAC aimed to equip nations with tailored policy tools to achieve net-zero aviation goals for future generations.
