Singapore has launched a S$1 million Sustainable Protein Growth Stage Grant Call designed to help high-potential sustainable protein ventures accelerate their path from proven technology to commercial market entry. The programme targets growth-stage innovations in plant-based, cultivated and fermentation-derived proteins, offering critical support at one of the most capital-intensive phases of development. The grant call is jointly powered by Singapore’s government agency focused on enterprise growth and a major regional research centre for sustainable protein. Each selected project will receive up to S$1 million in funding, split evenly between public support and philanthropic investment. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate both scientific readiness and commercial viability as part of the competitive selection process. Officials explained that bridging the gap between early technical success and scalable commercial solutions has long been a barrier for many climate-oriented food innovators. By providing dedicated funding at this stage, the initiative aims to equip companies with the resources needed to refine their systems, build partnerships and navigate market challenges more effectively. The Sustainable Protein Growth Stage Grant Call is part of Singapore’s broader strategy to become a regional hub for future food innovation, supporting sustainable food systems that reduce environmental impact and strengthen food security. The programme’s launch underscores the city-state’s commitment to fostering a robust innovation ecosystem for alternative protein technologies.
