Singapore and Indonesia have strengthened their bilateral partnership by signing 26 agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs), with environmental protection, carbon market development and renewable energy among the key areas of cooperation. The agreements were concluded during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's state visit to Singapore, underscoring both countries' commitment to advancing sustainable development and regional climate action. Among the sustainability-focused agreements is a memorandum of understanding on carbon cooperation, under which Singapore and Indonesia will work towards implementing high-integrity carbon credit projects in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The partnership aims to promote credible carbon markets while supporting emissions reduction efforts and sustainable investment in both countries. The agreements also strengthen collaboration in environmental management, clean energy and green economic development. Both governments agreed to deepen cooperation on renewable energy, environmental governance and other sustainability initiatives that support the transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient economies. The wide-ranging package of agreements reflects the growing strategic partnership between Singapore and Indonesia and highlights the increasing importance of bilateral cooperation in addressing climate change, advancing environmental sustainability and fostering sustainable economic growth across the region.
