Qatar and the United Arab Emirates reaffirmed their commitment to stronger regional integration and sustainable development during the seventh session of the Qatar-UAE Joint Supreme Committee, held in Abu Dhabi on May 7, 2026. The meeting was co-chaired by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the discussions, both countries agreed to expand cooperation across several sectors, including food security, energy, transport connectivity, artificial intelligence, and sustainable economic development. Officials emphasized the importance of strengthening supply-chain resilience and building more integrated economic systems capable of responding to regional and global challenges. A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding focused on sustainability and investment cooperation. This included an agreement on agriculture and food security signed by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi. Both sides also signed agreements related to investment promotion and municipal cooperation. The two countries highlighted the growing importance of cooperation in future-focused sectors such as digital transformation, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and renewable energy infrastructure. Officials said stronger collaboration in these areas would support long-term sustainability, economic diversification, and regional stability while advancing broader Gulf cooperation goals.
