Oman’s Wadi Al Sahtan Water Transmission and Distribution Network Project has reached 46% completion, marking progress in efforts to strengthen water security and improve access to reliable water services in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq. The project is being developed by Nama Water Services as part of broader investments in sustainable water infrastructure across the country. With a total investment of RO17.2 million (approximately US$44.7 million), the project is designed to enhance the efficiency and resilience of water supply systems in mountainous and rural areas. The initiative aims to support population growth, urban expansion and future development needs while reducing reliance on alternative water sources. Construction began in June 2025 and includes more than 65 kilometres of transmission and distribution pipelines, nine booster pumping stations, one main pumping station, elevated storage tanks and a ground reservoir with a capacity of 8,000 cubic metres. Modern water disinfection systems will also be incorporated to ensure water quality and service reliability. Upon completion, the project is expected to provide more than 840 household water connections, benefiting approximately 4,200 residents in the area. The second phase will extend services to newly developed residential communities across Wadi Al Sahtan, helping accommodate future demand and reinforce the long-term sustainability of local water infrastructure. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027 and forms part of Nama Water Services’ wider investment programme to strengthen water security and support sustainable development across Oman.
