Oman and Egypt have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in civil aviation and promote a more sustainable air transport industry. The agreement, signed by Amr Al-Sharqawi, Chairman of Egypt’s Civil Aviation Authority, and Nayef Al-Abri, President of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority, took place during the 42nd session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada. The partnership focuses on advancing air safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability within the aviation sector. Both countries aim to align with global efforts to decarbonize aviation, reduce emissions, and adopt green technologies that support a low-carbon future. The MoU also seeks to increase connectivity between Oman and Egypt’s tourist destinations, fostering sustainable travel and economic growth. According to Al-Abri, the agreement strengthens Oman’s vision to become a regional logistics and aviation hub connecting over 130 global destinations through eco-efficient practices. Al-Sharqawi emphasized that the initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to expanding Arab and international partnerships while supporting sustainable development within the aviation industry. Oman also signed three additional air transport agreements with Syria, the Ivory Coast, and Guyana, reinforcing its role in promoting global cooperation, sustainable mobility, and environmentally responsible aviation growth.
