In a pioneering move for environmental empowerment, the Kuwait Environment Protection Society (KEPS) launched the region’s first women-focused climate action guide titled “Women’s Guide to Climate Action and Shared Responsibility”. The publication marked a significant milestone in elevating women's roles in climate solutions, offering a unique blend of scientific research, social insights, and real-life stories from across the Arab world. Supervised by KEPS Secretary General Jenan Behzad, the guide was developed as a practical and empowering tool to spotlight women’s leadership in climate action. Prepared by 11 Arab female contributors from Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain, the UAE, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Iraq, the guide was divided into five key chapters. These addressed the gendered impact of climate change, the importance of shared environmental responsibility, and showcased Arab women’s leadership in climate advocacy. The guide also included a hands-on sustainability checklist to help readers integrate green practices in their daily lives and communities. The initiative was inspired by outcomes from the workshop titled “Women between Climate Change and Sustainable Development,” conducted in collaboration with the National Association for Family Security. KEPS positioned this publication as a vital addition to the Kuwaiti and Arab environmental knowledge base, emphasizing the urgent need for inclusive approaches to climate policy and community resilience. Behzad highlighted that women play an essential role as change-makers—leading within families, communities, and policymaking circles. The guide aimed to encourage active female participation in environmental protection and push for equitable solutions to climate challenges, reinforcing KEPS’s commitment to sustainable development through inclusive, locally grounded action.
