At the 3rd India-Nordic Summit held in Oslo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leaders from Nordic countries agreed on several major initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation in sustainability, advanced technology, trade, and innovation. A key outcome of the summit was the elevation of India-Nordic relations into a “Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership,” reflecting a stronger focus on climate action, renewable energy, circular economy practices, and sustainable development. The summit emphasized collaboration in green technologies, clean energy solutions, water management, and digital infrastructure. India and the Nordic countries also agreed to support scalable climate solutions and expand cooperation under India’s Mission LiFE initiative, which promotes environmentally responsible lifestyles. Another major highlight was cooperation in next-generation communication technologies, particularly 6G. The countries announced plans for joint research and innovation programs in STEM fields, startups, incubators, and future telecom technologies to support digital transformation and strengthen technological capabilities. The summit also focused on expanding trade and investment ties through agreements linked to India-EU and EFTA partnerships. Discussions included improving supply chain resilience, boosting sustainable economic growth, and increasing investments in sectors related to green industries and innovation. In addition, India and the Nordic nations agreed to strengthen cooperation in the Arctic region through joint research on climate studies and polar science. Blue economy initiatives, maritime security, sustainable ship recycling, talent mobility, and defence collaboration were also included among the key outcomes of the summit.
