Dubai Municipality has announced plans to open 35 new parks across the emirate in 2026, as part of its broader urban sustainability and livability agenda. The initiative falls under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and aims to enhance green infrastructure while improving quality of life for residents. The project represents a significant public investment in expanding accessible community spaces. The new parks will span over 340,000 square metres and serve more than 20 residential communities. Authorities have emphasized accessibility, ensuring that most residents can reach a park within a five-minute walk. This approach reflects a shift toward more inclusive, people-centric urban planning that integrates green spaces into everyday life. The initiative is aligned with Dubai’s Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, which focuses on expanding green cover, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting climate-resilient infrastructure. Planned features include tree planting, use of recycled water for irrigation, renewable energy integration, and smart technologies to improve environmental efficiency and governance. Officials noted that the parks will also function as community hubs, supporting social cohesion and well-being while contributing to sustainable urban growth. The broader roadmap includes plans to develop over 120 parks and hundreds of recreational facilities in the coming years, reinforcing Dubai’s long-term commitment to sustainability and environmental resilience.
