Dubai has reviewed its progress in achieving sustainable development goals, with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy confirming continued improvements in the emirate's environmental performance. During its 95th meeting, the Council approved the 2025 greenhouse gas emissions results, which recorded a further reduction in Dubai's carbon footprint through ongoing sustainability initiatives. The Council attributed the decline in greenhouse gas emissions to several key factors, including the increased share of clean energy in Dubai's electricity mix, improved electricity and water management, greater operational efficiency and the growing adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles. These measures support Dubai's long-term transition towards a low-carbon and sustainable economy. During the meeting, members also reviewed the progress of strategic energy programmes aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening policies and initiatives that improve energy efficiency, enhance sustainability and accelerate the emirate's clean energy transition. The latest review highlights Dubai's continued efforts to integrate sustainability into its economic development agenda while advancing climate action and resource efficiency. By monitoring emissions performance and expanding clean energy initiatives, the emirate aims to support national sustainability objectives and contribute to the United Arab Emirates' long-term net-zero ambitions.
