Australia Post has introduced a new 2030 Sustainability Framework outlining its next phase of environmental targets focused on emissions reduction, renewable energy adoption, and circular resource use across its operations. The framework builds on the organisation’s earlier sustainability roadmap and aligns with its long-term ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Under the new plan, the postal service aims to cut its direct Scope 1 emissions by an additional 8% by 2030 compared with a 2025 baseline. The strategy includes expanding electric delivery vehicles and trucks, increasing the use of low-carbon fuels, and improving logistics efficiency across its national transport network, which represents the largest share of its carbon footprint. The framework also sets renewable energy goals, including increasing installed on-site solar capacity from 14 MW to 30 MW and continuing to match electricity consumption with renewable sources at operational facilities. In addition, Australia Post plans to maintain Scope 3 emissions—those generated across its supply chain—at 2025 levels despite expected growth in parcel volumes. Beyond decarbonisation, the initiative strengthens the company’s circular economy efforts. Targets include reducing waste sent to landfill by 30% and achieving 80% waste diversion through improved recycling and resource management across facilities and operations. The framework aims to embed sustainability deeper into the organisation’s infrastructure and logistics network while supporting broader environmental goals across Australia.
