The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has announced plans to introduce a new Unified Gas Code at ADIPEC 2025, marking a major step in strengthening safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the emirate’s energy sector. The Unified Gas Code will establish common standards for the management of natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and industrial gases, ensuring a transparent and coordinated framework between public and private entities. The DoE said the code aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy and supports Abu Dhabi’s position as a global clean energy leader. “The Unified Gas Code reinforces Abu Dhabi’s role as a hub for clean energy and innovation,” said Abdulla Al Jarwan, Chairman of the DoE. The new framework also enhances the secure and efficient supply of more than 100 petroleum products across the emirate. In parallel, the DoE is advancing digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives to improve energy management. These measures are expected to save over $27 million (AED 100 million) annually and cut 200,000 tons of CO₂ emissions by 2050 — equivalent to removing 40,000 cars from the road. Aligned with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to triple renewable energy capacity, the government plans to invest up to $54 billion (AED 200 billion) by 2030. The Unified Gas Code and accompanying innovations underscore Abu Dhabi’s commitment to a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future.
