Supplier sustainability assessments have become an increasingly important factor in industrial procurement, influencing both customer confidence and access to new business opportunities.
Delivering clean energy, clean air, and clean water solutions to industrial customers worldwide, an industrial engineering company turned to Cognitud to improve its EcoVadis performance by strengthening governance, documentation, and assessment readiness across all four evaluation pillars.
Established environmental, labour, ethics, and procurement practices were already embedded within the business, yet much of the supporting evidence was fragmented, inconsistently documented, or not aligned with EcoVadis assessment requirements. Sustainable procurement, in particular, lacked the formal policies and structured evidence needed to demonstrate programme maturity.

Governance documentation was strengthened, missing policies were formalized, and existing initiatives were supported with evidence that reflected assessor expectations.
Attention was also given to organizing documentation into a consistent submission structure, ensuring that policies, management systems, performance indicators, and supporting records collectively demonstrated the maturity of the company's ESG programme.

The structured assessment programme translated operational performance into stronger external recognition, delivering an EcoVadis score of 60 out of 100—an improvement of approximately 25 points over the previous assessment cycle.
Alongside the improved rating, the organization established a more disciplined governance and documentation framework that strengthened customer confidence, supported supplier qualification processes, and created a stronger foundation for future ESG assessments.
