UAE expands ban on single-use plastics from January

The United Arab Emirates has announced an expansion of its nationwide ban on single-use plastic products, set to take effect from January 1. The move builds on earlier restrictions and reflects the country’s ongoing commitment to reducing plastic pollution and promoting sustainable consumption patterns across all sectors of society.

Under the expanded rules, additional plastic items commonly used in retail, food service, and packaging will be phased out, encouraging businesses and consumers to transition toward reusable and environmentally friendly alternatives.
