Saudi Arabia recently concluded its “Friends of the Environment” initiative, an ambitious nationwide program aimed at building a generation of environmentally conscious youth. Spearheaded by the Environment Fund in partnership with nonprofit INJAZ Saudi Arabia, the program reached over 13,552 students across 331 schools in all 13 administrative regions of the Kingdom. The campaign focused on enhancing environmental awareness among young people while equipping them with practical skills aligned with Vision 2030 and the National Environment Strategy. More than 200 student counselors were trained, delivering an impressive 135,520 hours of environmental education, surpassing the original plan of 125,000 hours. This initiative served as a powerful example of collaboration between the environmental, educational, and nonprofit sectors. It reflected the Fund’s mission to foster a generation that values and protects the Kingdom’s natural resources. The program was part of the broader Incentives and Grants Program launched in 2024, and ties into the government’s SR1 billion ($267 million) environmental financing push to boost private sector participation in sustainable development. With its goals exceeded, the Fund reaffirmed its commitment to supporting similar youth-focused environmental efforts across the country.
