Qatar unveiled its national transport strategy for 2025–2030, aiming to transform the country into a global hub for sustainable logistics and smart mobility. The plan, introduced under the slogan “Reaching Beyond Horizons,” included 125 projects across 42 initiatives, with nearly 40% involving private sector participation. The strategy aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, targeting world-class transport infrastructure, improved logistics efficiency, and innovative, environmentally responsible mobility solutions. A key focus of the strategy was environmental sustainability. Qatar had already electrified 73% of its bus fleet and set a target for full electrification by 2030, alongside integrated metro and tram networks. The 17 public transport projects aimed to provide reliable, inclusive, and eco-friendly services, emphasizing accessibility for people of determination and reducing carbon emissions nationwide. The plan also addressed social sustainability by investing in human capital through training and upskilling programs for national talent in the smart mobility sector. In addition, smart control centers and digital services were developed to optimize traffic management and improve efficiency. Officials described the strategy as a “major transformative journey” to position Qatar as a model for an integrated, secure, resilient, and sustainable transport ecosystem, while also supporting economic growth and international connectivity.
