Qatar and India are taking major steps toward sustainable economic cooperation, with both countries pledging to integrate green growth, renewable energy, and sustainable trade practices into their expanding bilateral partnership. The commitment was reaffirmed during the fifth session of the Qatar–India Joint Commission on Economic and Commercial Cooperation and the launch of the Qatar–India Joint Business Council held in Doha on October 6, 2025. Co-chaired by HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, and HE Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, the meetings outlined plans to double bilateral trade to $30 billion by 2030 while advancing collaboration across sustainability-driven sectors such as clean energy, smart agriculture, green technology, education, and innovation. Both ministers emphasized the role of private sector participation, innovation, and environmental responsibility in driving economic growth. The discussions also highlighted the importance of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and a 20-year LNG supply partnership that supports India’s clean energy transition and Qatar’s leadership in low-carbon energy solutions. Aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and India’s Green Growth Mission, the partnership aims to balance economic expansion with environmental preservation, foster climate-resilient industries, and strengthen institutional cooperation in sustainability and technology. This joint effort reflects a shared vision for a sustainable, diversified, and innovation-led future for both nations.
