Oman Launches Initiative to Integrate Solar Energy into Agricultural Projects

Oman has launched a new initiative to integrate solar energy into agricultural projects, marking a significant step toward enhancing sustainability in the country’s farming sector. The programme is designed to support farmers in adopting renewable energy solutions, improving productivity while reducing environmental impact.

The initiative enables farms to install solar energy systems that can power irrigation, cooling and other agricultural operations. By transitioning to clean energy sources, farmers are expected to benefit from lower operating costs and improved energy efficiency, particularly in energy-intensive activities such as water pumping.

To accelerate adoption, the programme includes financial support mechanisms, with funding available for eligible farms to install solar infrastructure. This approach aims to make renewable energy more accessible while encouraging widespread uptake across the agricultural sector.
