Mexico has deepened its partnership with Singapore following the signing of two major cooperation agreements during Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s State Visit to the National Palace in Mexico City on 1 December 2025. President Tharman was received by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, underscoring Mexico’s growing role in advancing bilateral collaboration with key global partners. The first Memorandum of Understanding, signed with Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, formalised joint work on coral reef restoration. The agreement supports scientific and technical cooperation to protect vital marine ecosystems—an area of growing importance within Mexico’s environmental agenda. A second MOU, concluded between Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, expanded cooperation on international development. The partnership enables Mexico and Singapore to jointly design and promote development programmes for third countries, reinforcing Mexico’s commitment to global knowledge sharing and capacity-building initiatives. President Tharman’s visit highlighted Mexico’s leadership in sustainability, development cooperation, and international partnerships. The new agreements provide a stronger institutional foundation for long-term collaboration and reflect Mexico’s continued engagement in addressing shared global challenges alongside trusted partners like Singapore.
