Malaysia Unveils Five Key Actions to Strengthen National Earth Health Agenda

20 November 2025 at 10:23 pm IST

Malaysia has reinforced its national commitment to earth health through the rollout of five strategic actions under the National Earth Health Action Plan (PTKBN). PTKBN, which stands for Pelan Tindakan Kesihatan Bumi Negara, represents a comprehensive framework that integrates policy coordination, environmental monitoring, community education and sustainable financing to ensure the well-being of people, animals and the environment progresses in tandem. This long-term plan positions earth health as a central pillar of Malaysia’s sustainability strategy. The five priority actions focus on strengthening institutional leadership via the National Sustainability Council, establishing an integrated impact monitoring framework, developing a National Genomic Database to improve environmental intelligence, promoting education and behavioural change, and enhancing sustainable financing mechanisms. These measures align Malaysia’s sustainability agenda with science, technology and innovation, supported by six Key Result Areas (KRAs), 53 strategies and 222 action plans. Through PTKBN, Malaysia aims to become a responsible steward of the planet while building a resilient, knowledge-driven society. The plan draws from national research, including the Science Outlook 2020 and pandemic-related studies, underscoring the urgency of strong early warning systems and integrated environmental governance.
