India is accelerating its transition from a renewable energy leader to a hub for battery storage and localised value chains by fostering innovation, collaboration, and global investments. At the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo and The Battery Show India in Delhi-NCR, experts highlighted that the country is at a critical juncture where technological innovation meets economic and environmental goals.

Manu Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh’s New & Renewable Energy Department, noted the achievement of delivering round-the-clock solar-plus-storage power at just Rs 2.70 per unit. The state’s 440 MW solar-plus-storage project in Morena underscores its commitment to affordable, reliable, and sustainable power generation.

Odisha is also emerging as a renewable energy hotspot, leveraging its vast natural resources to drive green transformation. The state is advancing projects such as floating solar across large water reservoirs and exploring pump storage systems, aiming to transition from a high greenhouse gas emitter to a net-zero economy.

The expo also spotlighted international collaboration, with 46 German companies showcasing cutting-edge technologies. Germany’s Ambassador to India, Dr Philipp Ackermann, reaffirmed the two nations’ commitment to their 2022 Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, reinforcing India’s growing role in the global clean energy landscape.
