The Haryana government has proposed the creation of a ₹100 crore Green Climate Resilient Fund as part of its budget plans, aiming to strengthen climate action and sustainable development across the state. The proposed fund is designed to support projects that enhance environmental protection, climate resilience, and low-carbon growth while helping communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.
According to the proposal, the fund will finance a range of initiatives focused on promoting renewable energy adoption, improving energy efficiency, encouraging the use of zero-emission vehicles, and advancing water conservation efforts. It will also support urban greening programs, climate-resilient agricultural practices, and nature-based solutions that contribute to both climate mitigation and adaptation goals.
The initiative reflects Haryana’s broader commitment to integrating sustainability into its development agenda. By allocating dedicated financial resources for climate-focused projects, the state aims to accelerate the transition toward cleaner technologies, strengthen environmental management, and improve resilience against climate-related risks.
The proposed fund is expected to create opportunities for innovative green projects while supporting long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
The announcement highlights the growing role of state governments in advancing climate action through targeted investments and policy measures. If implemented, the Green Climate Resilient Fund could help drive sustainable infrastructure development, promote resource efficiency, and contribute to Haryana’s efforts to build a greener and more climate-resilient future.
A ₹100-crore state-level green fund is small in headline terms but often catalyses meaningful follow-on private capital when structured well.
