India and Germany have strengthened their collaboration in renewable energy and sustainable development during a four-day visit by German Parliamentary State Secretary Johann Saathoff to India, marking 25 years of the India-Germany strategic partnership. The visit underscored mutual efforts in clean technology, innovation, and climate-focused economic growth. In New Delhi, Saathoff inaugurated the German Pavilion at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025, where companies from both nations showcased advancements in solar, wind, and green hydrogen. He emphasized Germany’s “Team Germany” approach, integrating government ministries, development agencies like GIZ and KfW, and private partners to bolster global renewable energy value chains. At the Indo-German CEO Roundtable on Solar Energy, co-hosted by MNRE and NSEFI, discussions centered on solar manufacturing, technology transfer, and investment opportunities. Saathoff stressed that renewable energy represents both an economic opportunity and a moral responsibility toward a sustainable future. During his visit, Saathoff also explored India’s Agri-Photovoltaic project at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, which merges food and energy production on the same land. He praised India’s innovation and commitment to clean energy, highlighting the nation’s growing potential in wind, solar, and biogas sectors.
