Gulf Bank was awarded the prestigious “Best Sustainability Initiative of 2025” by Asian Banking & Finance as part of its Retail Banking Awards, recognizing the Bank’s innovative project to upcycle used advertising materials into reusable tote bags. This initiative, carried out in partnership with local social enterprise Ibrah, converted over 5,000 square meters of outdoor advertising banners into eco-friendly bags, distributed free during environmental and community events across Kuwait. The project underscored Gulf Bank’s deep commitment to sustainability—not as a one-off campaign, but as an integral philosophy embedded in its operations. By reducing single-use plastic waste and promoting circular consumption, the Bank demonstrated how even small-scale actions can create large-scale impact. Marketing played a pivotal role, not just in promoting the initiative but in shaping public perceptions and encouraging positive behavioural change. Gulf Bank’s collaboration with Ibrah also reflected its broader CSR values—supporting local artisans, empowering underprivileged families, and encouraging youth-led entrepreneurship. Through this initiative, the Bank created not only environmental value but also social impact, reinforcing its alignment with Kuwait’s national development goals. In her statement, Chief Marketing Officer Najla Aleisa emphasized that sustainability is a shared responsibility, not a trend. She called upon individuals, institutions, and businesses to join hands in driving meaningful action. Gulf Bank further invited the public to review its latest Sustainability Report, which details its ESG performance across areas like waste reduction, climate action, and community engagement—reaffirming its leadership in responsible banking for a more sustainable future.
