EU Launches €601.5 Million LIFE Programme 2026 to Fund Climate and Environmental Projects

The European Union has launched the LIFE Programme 2026 Calls for Proposals, making €601.5 million available to support projects focused on environmental protection, climate action, biodiversity conservation and the clean energy transition. Managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the programme aims to accelerate Europe's green transition by funding practical, scalable solutions with measurable environmental impact.

The funding supports a broad range of initiatives, including nature and biodiversity conservation, circular economy and zero pollution, climate change mitigation and adaptation, clean energy transition, and strategic integrated projects. The programme also provides support for NGO operating grants and technical assistance for large-scale environmental and climate initiatives.

Eligible applicants include public authorities, private companies, research institutions, non-governmental organisations and other legal entities established in EU Member States or countries associated with the LIFE Programme. Standard Action Project proposals are due by 22 September 2026, while deadlines for other funding categories vary.
