In a major stride toward sustainable development, India and the European Union (EU) deepened their strategic partnership to promote sustainable water management and climate resilience. The collaboration was highlighted during an event in Kohima, where Laura Sustersic, Director of GIZ India, underscored the significance of joint action between India and the EU in tackling water-related challenges in the face of climate change. The initiative focused on integrated water resource management, aiming to enhance water security through policy exchange, technical cooperation, and institutional strengthening. Both partners worked to address pressing issues such as water scarcity, pollution, and climate vulnerability, with a shared vision to promote community-driven, inclusive solutions at both national and regional levels. India and the EU also aligned their efforts with global frameworks, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Through collaborative pilot projects, capacity-building initiatives, and knowledge-sharing platforms, the partnership demonstrated how international cooperation can deliver meaningful progress on environmental resilience. This growing alliance reflected the evolving EU–India strategic roadmap, which places climate action, green transitions, and sustainable resource management at its core. By investing in scalable water solutions, the partnership not only reinforced bilateral ties but also set a precedent for other global partnerships striving for equitable access to natural resources.
