Dubai has launched its first AI-powered smart bus station at the Mall of the Emirates, marking a major step in the emirate’s smart mobility and sustainable transport ambitions. Developed by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the new station combines artificial intelligence, real-time digital services, and sustainability-focused infrastructure to improve public transport experiences for commuters and visitors. The smart station is directly connected to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, allowing seamless transfers between buses and the Dubai Metro network. The facility currently serves 11 bus routes, including metro feeder buses, internal city routes, and seasonal services connecting key residential, commercial, and tourism areas across Dubai. Designed as a next-generation public transport hub, the station offers 24/7 interactive digital services, including smart kiosks, ticketing and recharge systems, live arrival displays, and journey planning assistance. AI-powered systems provide real-time updates on bus and metro schedules, helping commuters make faster and more informed travel decisions. The station also uses intelligent crowd monitoring systems and AI-enabled cameras to improve passenger flow and enhance operational efficiency. Sustainability is another key feature of the project. The station includes solar panels for renewable energy generation and smart environmental sensors that monitor air quality and optimize energy usage. These additions align with Dubai’s wider sustainability goals and efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of urban infrastructure. Dubai authorities describe the project as a model for the future of public transportation in the city. The initiative reflects Dubai’s broader smart city vision, which focuses on integrating artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and sustainable infrastructure into everyday urban life. Officials have also indicated plans to expand similar smart transport solutions across the emirate in the future.
