Dubai Customs Launches “Project Zero”

Dubai Customs Launches “Project Zero”

16 October 2025 at 05:53 pm IST

Dubai Customs has unveiled “Project Zero”, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region aimed at transforming counterfeit goods into valuable, sustainable products.

In collaboration with DP World Foundation and Landmark Group, the project seeks to eliminate waste and support the circular economy by repurposing seized counterfeit items instead of destroying them.

This innovative approach integrates environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and intellectual property protection into the core of customs operations.

As part of the initiative, Landmark Group will process approximately half a million counterfeit items through an advanced recycling system designed to achieve “Zero Waste.” The effort is expected to produce over 200,000 usable products, reducing landfill waste, cutting carbon emissions, and supporting underprivileged communities. “Project Zero” reflects Dubai’s broader sustainability vision and demonstrates how government and private sector collaboration can convert environmental challenges into opportunities for positive social and economic impact.
