Dubai Approves AED 18.3 Billion Plan for Jobs, Parks & Schools

05 November 2025 at 08:11 pm IST

The government of Dubai has approved a sweeping AED 18.3 billion urban-development strategy aimed at elevating the emirate’s quality of life, sustainability credentials and economic resilience. Central to the plan are three landmark targets: the creation of 15,000 new jobs; the development of 800 parks and green spaces; and the expansion of education capacity by 120,000 student seats. Under the new parks and greenery strategy, more than 800 projects will be mobilised, spanning the creation of 310 new parks, enhancements to existing green infrastructure, and the rollout of 14 technology-driven environmental projects. The initiative aims for 95 million annual park visits by 2040, a trebling of the tree count, the provision of 187 km² of green area (equivalent to about 11 m² per person), and ensuring that 80% of residents live within a five-minute walk of a neighbourhood park. In education and workforce development, the plan will support the construction of roughly 60 new affordable schools by 2033, adding around 120,000 seats to the system. Concurrently, the job-creation programme is aligned with broader strategic frameworks to strengthen aviation, sports, finance, and health sectors, pointing to an integrated approach to sustainable urban growth.
