The governments of Bangladesh and Kuwait have held their first-ever political consultations, agreeing to bolster cooperation in political, economic, defence, labour, development and cultural fields. They committed to further collaboration in areas such as training, disaster response, cybersecurity, manpower mobility and emerging sectors including renewable energy and climate-resilient infrastructure. A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to hold these consultations biennially, alternately in Dhaka and Kuwait City, and to revive the joint trade committee. The two countries emphasised boosting trade and investment, particularly in energy, infrastructure, ICT and halal food sectors. The dialogue reaffirmed historic ties dating back to Kuwait’s early recognition of Bangladesh in the 1970s. Both governments underscored their shared vision for sustainable development and global cooperation within multilateral forums.
