Australia is strengthening support for Cambodia’s agri-food sector through green investment initiatives aimed at improving agricultural productivity, sustainability and long-term economic resilience. The effort forms part of broader Australia–Cambodia cooperation focused on climate-smart growth and sustainable food systems. The initiative supports Cambodian agri-food businesses in adopting more efficient production practices, improving competitiveness and expanding market opportunities. Programmes backed by Australia are helping local enterprises scale operations while encouraging more sustainable approaches across agricultural value chains. Australia’s development partnership with Cambodia prioritises resilient and inclusive economic growth, with agriculture identified as a key area for investment. The partnership framework for 2025–2029 also includes support for climate adaptation, sustainable development and strengthening local institutional capacity. Officials said greater investment in sustainable agriculture can help improve food security, support rural livelihoods and strengthen Cambodia’s position in regional agri-food markets. The initiative reflects growing regional interest in combining agricultural growth with environmental resilience and lower-emission development pathways.
