The World Government Summit 2026 has begun in Dubai, gathering thousands of global leaders, policymakers, innovators and experts to explore how governments can better address the world’s pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. The event runs through 5 February 2026 and is being held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.” More than 6,250 participants are expected at this year’s summit, including heads of state, ministers, Nobel laureates, business leaders and representatives from international organisations. The agenda brings together over 445 sessions spanning public finance, investment, technology applications, leadership development and sustainable development objectives. A key part of the summit’s focus is on connecting technological innovation with sustainability goals. Delegates are discussing how advancements such as artificial intelligence, data science and digital governance tools can support more effective policy responses to environmental, economic and social challenges. Workshops and panels are designed to share best practices and encourage joint approaches across countries and sectors. Officials also emphasised the importance of international cooperation in advancing sustainable development. Discussions on funding mechanisms to support climate action, infrastructure resilience and public-private partnerships aim to strengthen global sustainability commitments and enable cross-border solutions to complex global issues.
