Dubai is set to host the inaugural Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition 2026 (DECE) on September 7–8, bringing together policymakers, environmental experts, businesses and academics to address key environmental challenges and explore emerging solutions. Organised by the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA), the two-day event will be held at Grand Hyatt Dubai under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. Held under the theme “Protecting Our Environment, Preserving Our Future,” the conference aims to create a regional platform for environmental dialogue, scientific exchange and climate action. Discussions will focus on six key areas: biodiversity, natural resources, food security, climate change, the circular economy and environmental artificial intelligence. Climate-related sessions will examine greenhouse-gas emissions reduction, climate adaptation and resilience, alongside innovative financing approaches for environmental action. The environmental AI programme will explore how technology can support water-resource management, coastal monitoring, vegetation tracking and real-time environmental data collection, highlighting the growing role of digital tools in environmental management. The programme will also address practical environmental challenges, including air, soil and water quality, sustainable food supply chains, food loss and waste, recycling and electronic-waste management. By bringing government, business and academia together, the conference is intended to strengthen collaboration, encourage environmental research and support partnerships that can accelerate climate and sustainability initiatives. The event supports Dubai and the United Arab Emirates' wider sustainability agenda, including the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategy, National Green Agenda 2030 and Dubai Urban Plan 2040. The inaugural conference is therefore positioned as a platform for connecting environmental policy, innovation and investment, while strengthening Dubai's role in regional climate and sustainability dialogue.
